A supplement name is a starting point. The ingredient panel, intended animal and pack presentation make the comparison more useful.

Read beyond the front of the pack

Record the full product name, form and intended animal. A front-panel description such as joint, kidney or nutritional support does not replace the ingredient panel or the complete label. A care category on this website is a browsing aid.

Write down how amounts are stated

Copy an ingredient amount together with the unit and the quantity it refers to: for example, a capsule, a measured portion or a stated serving. Keep that wording intact in your notes. Different ways of listing amounts should not be treated as directly comparable without checking the complete information.

Keep pack quantity separate

A bottle count, carton count or container weight helps identify what is pictured. It does not by itself tell you the product instructions. If more than one presentation appears under a listing, select the pack you are actually comparing and read the details shown for that selection.

Bring the complete label to a discussion

A useful record includes the ingredient list, label instructions and the other products your pet receives. Ask your veterinarian about the complete product in that context. This guide explains how to collect product information; it does not assess benefits or choose a supplement for an individual pet.
